HORSE BACK RIDING

Immerse yourself in this local adventure with expert cowboys, where they will teach you how to ride and enjoy nature in the middle of the forest of Mexico City.

WITH A MEXICAN CHARRO FAMILY

WHAT TO EXPECT?
During the ride to La Magdalena Contreras, you’ll meet your guide, get to know Aurelio and Luis, and talk about your experience with horses. We’ll also get to know you and help choose the horse that may be the best match for you. When we arrive at our small family stables, located within the family home, you’ll meet your horse and receive a practical introduction to riding. For a moment, you’ll feel like you’re in a little master class with Mexican cowboys (charros), learning how to position your feet, hold the reins, maintain your balance and communicate with your horse. Then we head into town. Get ready to say hello to everyone. In these local communities, greeting the people you meet along the way — with a smile and a “buenos días” — is part of the journey. We pass local streets, a tortillería, small shops and neighborhood markets. Sometimes we stop to pick up seasonal fruit or something to take with us. From there, we continue toward the mountains and ride through forest trails, hills and open areas, going uphill and downhill and crossing a small river. Throughout the approximately two-hour ride, depending on trail and weather conditions, your guide stays with you, teaching and correcting you as you ride. You learn by doing — applying what you are taught directly from the saddle. Whether it is your first time on a horse or you already have experience, there is always something new to learn. And along the way, you may discover whether you can complete our Reto Charro — a special recognition for guests who successfully overcome the challenges of the ride.
THEN COME THE TACOS
After approximately two hours on horseback, we sit down together for one of our favorite parts of the day: tacos prepared by a local family.
And these aren't tiny tacos served one at a time.
Here, tacos are generous, rustic and countryside-style, prepared to be shared around the table after a morning in the mountains.
Don’t worry about how many tacos you’ll eat. Start thinking about how many flavors you can try.
Tacos and other traditional options are included, so you can take your time, try different preparations and enjoy the food with the family.
Everyone sits together — guests, guides and family — sharing food, stories and conversation.
It is a simple way to finish the morning: tired from riding, hungry from the mountains and sitting around a table enjoying good Mexican food.
Come for the ride. Leave with a new skill, a full stomach and a story to tell.

MEET OUR CHARROS
The people behind the horses, the mountains and the experience.
We are a small, close-knit team connected by horses, nature and Mexican traditions. Some of us have spent decades around horses; others represent a new generation of charros.
We welcome our guests like family, but when it comes to horses and safety, we are disciplined, attentive and serious about what we do.
Our goal is simple: that you enjoy the ride, respect the horses and leave having learned something new.
MORE THAN GUIDES
Behind every ride is a person who cares about the horse, the tradition and the people who come to experience it.
We want you to leave knowing that you didn't simply ride a horse — you learned something, challenged yourself and shared a little piece of our way of life.
